The 265cid V8 engine was used for the entire 1956 and 1957 model years. The bypass breather tube went down the passenger side of the engine to the oil pan. The new block incorporated an oil filter boss on the driver side of the engine for a replicable oil filter. The casting number for this block is #3720991.

The engine, including the rocker arm covers are, Chevrolet Red with silver script on the racer arm covers.
